Hussain Talat Hospitalized with Shoulder Injury During Must-Win Bangladesh ODI
Pakistan’s all-rounder, Hussain Talat, suffered a severe shoulder injury, during the second One-Day International against Bangladesh and unfortunately he had to be stretchered off the field at the Sher-e-Bang͏la National Cricket Stadium. It was an agonizing incident, and it happened during a critical, must-win game for Pakistan when they were touring in Mirpur.
The collision, it took place earl͏y in the Bangladesh run chase.
During the sixth over, Talat sprinted, desperately trying to cut off a backfoot punch by Litton Das and the ball was heading for the deep cover boundary. But he lost control and crashing violently into the perimeter advertising hoarding. He immediately showed extreme discomfort, and he needed urgent medical attention, from the team personnel, on the field before being substituted off.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was quick to address the situation. Confirming that sadly the 30-year-old had sustained a shoulder injury, and, required immediate hospitalization.
PCB officials have stated that doctors are conducting a fairly detailed medical examination to determine the exact nature, and extent, of the damage. The injury is a massive tactical blow to Pakistan, make no mistake. They entered the match trailing Bangladesh one-nil in the three-match series.
Before the injury halted his participation, Pakistan had, in fact, set a formidable target. Batting first the team piled up 274 all out in 47.3 overs. Maaz Sadaqat led the aggressive charge with a blistering 75 off just 46 deliveries, smashing six boundaries and five sixes, it was quite something. Salman Ali Agha provided crucial support with a solid 64.
A sudden hailstorm later interrupted the match. Bangladesh stood at 27/3 after 6.3 overs, requiring another 248 ru͏ns from 261 balls before weather forced the players off the pitch. The situation could have been better, of course.
