Nebius signs AI capacity deal with Meta for at least $12 billion
- Tech Titan Deal: Nebius Group secured a massive five-year agreement to provide Meta with at least $12 billion in AI computing capacity by 2027.
- Scale of Expansion: The contract could balloon to a staggering $27 billion if Meta purchases an additional $15 billion in unsold capacity over the next five years.
- Infrastructure Core: The Amsterdam-based "neocloud" firm leverages Nvidia processors to power the dedicated AI cloud infrastructure across multiple locations.
Nebius Strikes $12 Billion AI Computing Mega-Deal with Meta Platforms
Amsterdam’s Nebius Group has signed a pretty big five-year deal to supply Meta Platforms with what is essentially $12 billion worth of dedicated artificial intelligence computing capacity. This expansive infrastructure agreement will be rolled out across a n͏umber of global locations by 2027, since the social media giant is accelerating its AI operations.
Beyond just the initial $12 billion commitment Meta still has the option to purchase an addito͏nal $15 billion worth of planned capacity from Nebius for the next five years, so says the contract. This secondary part kicks in if Nebius cannot sell t͏he extra capacity to other clients; this kind of clause pushes the total potential value of the contract as high as $27 billion. Nebius operates like a very focused "neocloud" company.
The firm focuses explicitly on selling high-performance hardware and cloud capacity as a service to major tech entities, which is not new. It really relies on advanced Nvidia processors as a way to build and run the complex AI cloud infrastru͏cture which are nessecary in order to support the extreme processing demands from Meta. This new mega-deal builds on an earlier agreement, one that was much smaller. Nebius and Meta ha͏d previously signed an initial $3 billion infrastructure contract, back in November.
